Talladega Nights fans will get it...

Dear Lord baby Jesus, lyin' there in your ghost manger, just lookin' at your Baby Einstein developmental videos, learnin' 'bout shapes and colors... little Eight Pound, Six Ounce, Newborn Baby Jesus, don’t even know a word yet, just a little infant, so cuddly, but still omnipotent...

I would like to thank you for the three kings of outdoor apparel: Sirs Northface, LL. Bean, and Lands' End. Because of their gifts I was able to brave the icy winds and general blizzardry on my trek to 28th street today. Yes, church may have been cancelled (boo hoo!), and carol sing may have been canceled (boo hoo again!), and I-94 was closed because of a 40+ car pileup that included 12 semis, but by golly, we made it to Michael's Arts and Crafts and my beloved Schuler's. But not without a hat, down coat, gloves, polar fleece, boots, and long johns.

Oh, and a brave little red Ford Focus.

Mankind was not meant to colonize this cold frozen north. You don't see people building huge civilizations in the desert, do you?!

I went outside today in the brutal Chicago wind, foolishly thinking I could go shopping on foot. I felt like I should have been on an episode of Ice Road Truckers it was so cold. I swear I saw some guy's leg shatter off as he tried to step forward, just like in Terminator 2. So maybe the cold was making me hallucinate, but it *could* have happened!

Also, this post has no pictures of Olivia...boo! I insist you meet the demands of the public on YOUR blog! Surely she did something cute today.

OMG couldn't agree more about the cold. I haven't left the house in days now. I'm scared to go outside for fear that my body will instantly freeze so cold that scientists hundreds of years from now will find me, unthaw me, and tell me civilization as I know it is dead. Where the heck is global warming now??

Also, I picture Jesus as an ice dancer doing interpretive dances of my life's journey, okay? And don't forget about the cougar in the Ford Focus. :)
