Obama Win Causes Obsessive Supporters To Realize How Empty Their Lives Are

That is the funniest thing I've seen in ages. I totally feel like a lot of those obsessive supporters have nothing else to do with their lives, so that's why they were so active in the campaign. Conservatives don't support their candidates so vocally because, oh my goodness, they actually have jobs and lives and children! Many of those people are professional protesters, etc. It drives me crazy.

Have you seen "the onion movie"? It was very funny! Full of silly stories like this one.

Admiring a funny Onion clip is one thing (which I agree, the clip is hilarious). But climbing up on your holier-than-thou pedestal and saying conservatives are all somehow too busy with their naturally fantastic lives to engage in the same behavior is offensive and elitist.

First, saying conservatives aren't vocal is just plain wrong. You were not watching the coverage of the McCain campaign if you think conservatives weren't out in droves, supporting their candidate just as rabidly. People believed in their candidate on both sides, and were doing everything they could to get their man elected. It’s both untrue and smug to say "Yes, us conservatives, we're sooooooo much better than those Obama supporters, we have better things to do with our time."

And if you want to take issue with "professional protesters," (which I don’t think is what the clip is making fun of exactly, but I’ll go with the tangent) keep in mind that they exist for all ideologies. Conservative causes are not immune to protesters that drive people crazy. (Fred Phelps and the WBC? Anyone?)

I know it’s easy to start demonizing the other side when you feel you’re among people who all have the same opinion, but there are evul libbrulz that read this blog too. If you want to be exclusionary and mean, there are plenty of other places to do it.
